Social Outreach
The Advent Social Outreach Committee organizes events that benefit the local community, and national and international efforts in humanitarian support. Throughout the calendar year, the team leads and participates in various fundraisers and “drives” which allow Advent members to share in giving, along with operating a food bank for the surrounding area.
“Can Can Sunday” is back! What is Can Can Sunday, you ask? It’s when we bring in items for Advent’s Food Pantry on the first Sunday of the month. These donations enable us to provide food boxes for people who contact Advent requesting food assistance.
Hope House Meals
Monthly, Advent provides a meal (lunch or dinner) to the clients and staff at Hope House. If you are interested in helping with one of these meals, contact Karen Trinidad or Joan LaRose for more information.
Lenten Hygiene Drive and Food Drive for the Growing Home Food Bank
We collected almost 900 pounds of food and 115 pounds of hygiene products for Growing Home.
Many many thanks to all who donated. Growing Home was so very appreciative.

The God’s Work Our Hands event held in inconjunction with St. Andrew on Sunday, September 10th was a great success.
We completed a variety of projects which included:
*** Creating and writing Autumn themed cards to send to residents of a local care center.
*** Repackaging bulk rice into family size packages for the Growing Home food pantry.
*** Gathering household items and furnishings for the Lutheran Family Services Refugee and Asylee Program.
*** Assembling an “Apartment Bin” of basic supplies for a Refugee family.
*** The start of our annual Coat Drive.

KING SOOPERS REWARD PROGRAM
The rewards program has made a change. You will no longer need to reload your gift card after March 31, 2019. All you need to do is swipe your King Soopers card or put in your linked phone number at checkout and gas pumps. You can use your loaded funds on your gift card until empty but any funds loaded after 3/31 will no longer be credited to Advent.
AS ALWAYS, this program costs you nothing to contribute!
YOU MUST go into your online King Soopers Card account and add Advent to your community rewards selection. This is how you do it!
1. Go to www.kingsoopers.com and sign into your account, if you don’t have one, you need to sign up for one.
2. Next select the Savings & Rewards tab and scroll to the community rewards programs. Select Enroll Now
3. In search bar, type in Advent Lutheran Church, select and now you are enrolled.
4. Now you will see a confirmation that Advent Lutheran Church is your contribution account.
Advent’s Social Outreach team strives to share the hospitality and warmth of Advent with others so “All May Know Christ’s Love”. The team organizes events throughout the year to so members of our congregation can share their blessings with those less fortunate. Our team is always looking to do more for our local neighbors in need. Through programs like the food bank, the annual school supply drive, the coat drive, and the ornament tree that provides gifts for children who might not have any on Christmas, we hope we are making life a little easier for our immediate community.
We also strive to care for our brothers and sisters in the Rocky Mountain Synod and throughout the world who are served by the E.L.C.A. We hold an annual fund raiser to provide ELCA global gifts and encourage Advent members to contribute to Lutheran World Relief. Christ tells us to take care of our brothers and sisters. The Social Outreach team provides the opportunities for members of Advent to give to those who need to know that Christ and their neighbors care for them.
